ABSTRACT
Industrial and artistic ceramics are prepared for shaping by adding additives at different stages of production for certain purposes such as increasing binding, strength, plasticity, and preventing the collapse of the body. These additives are divided into two main groups as organic and inorganic. Organic additives burn away during shaping, while inorganic ones remain in the ceramic body and become a component of ceramics.
Contemporary ceramics reach different technical and artistic solutions by using different organic and fibrous additives such as waste broken ceramic pieces, aggregates, chamotte, sand, glass, ceramic raw materials as well as various plant leaves, nuts, paper, straw, nylon, perlite. . These different materials, which are used as a component of the body by acting as a skeleton during firing in the ceramic body in durable materials such as metal, wire nails and fasteners, are used by artists to obtain various surface textures and artistic results.
In this research, the additives and application methods used in the ceramic body and the artistic applications and production methods using different materials were investigated, and it was aimed to create a resource by discussing the works done in this field with the artists.
