In this research on the color change and the gemological analysis of a diamond which is a miracle of
the nature, Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) Spectroscopy and multiple gemological equipments
have been used. The laboratory studies of this research have been completed in International Diamond
Laboratory, IDL which is in Istanbul, Grand bazaar, and in the laboratory of Hoge Raad voor Diamant
(HRD Antwerp) which means Diamond High Council. Alpha Diamond Analyzer and M-Screen have
been used during the reviews. Each Diamond that was used to be researched was checked for its
colors individually in the sunlight and with the help of the white paper, was measured by weight with
precision balance, was checked for the sizes with a caliper, was looked into its fluorescent colors
under ultraviolet lights, and it’s brightness was analyzed with the help of a microscope. After these
measurements were made and noted down, FT-IR analyses were made and the colors which are close
to each other were compared to draw their graphics. As a result, what colors of stones give results
has been explained by proving.
The general aim of this research is to support more studies to be done on diamond and valuable stones.
And the aim of this study is to analyze diamond which is the most valuable stone in the nature, in a
gemological aspect and search the color differences among diamonds. In accordance with the topic,
by also getting support from the experts, all the necessary laboratory work was being completed and
the details were analyzed. The original photos of each stone that was taken under the ultraviolet lights
and in the daylight and the results of the graphics by the device are added to the research.
The findings, graphics and the pictures that emerged at the end of the research clearly reveals that
the natural color formation of a diamond completely occurs from the different color elements that
is in a diamond. The comments that are based on the scientific explanations reveal the reason of
the differences of colors. It will be explained that the diamonds of the model have the same peak
values of the similar colors in the examined graphics. In relation to this result, it is possible to make
comments on the colors of the diamonds that were analyzed by the FT-IR device.
