ABSTRACT


Illustration; as one of the impressive ways of visual production methods is created for to illustrate, explain or just to inform about the brand story in various mediums. Brand identity is not only seen in logo design but in every aspect of our daily lives such as in social media, packaging design, promotional visuals and etc. This research seeks the answers of why the illustrative branding is needed, how they are created, what ideas they bear and how the themes are applied to brands. Within the scope of this research, visual analysis method, that is to decode the visuals through examples, is used. It is grounded on the design and consumer shopping trend report published by The Dieline in 2017. As a result, the use of illustration is preferred by the brands because of the meaning, distinctness it integrates and creates an emotional bond with consumers. Visual trends develop depending on the changing consumer behavior and today consumers “shop for answers”. Not only a product is bought but serving to a greater cause, inner peace, experience, trust, social bonds are considered. In pursuit of this, brands constantly develop marketing strategies and this creates emerging trends. The awareness of the designer enables to create unique solutions.
