Impressionism that emerged in France in the second half of the 19th century; It is an art movement that affects all branches of art, especially painting. Berthe Morisot is one of the most important French female painters of the 19th century and is particularly known for the Impressionism movement. However, she was not as well-known as his male counterparts due to the sexist attitudes of the time. But since the number of female painters was very few at that time; Morisot's art has helped women show more of their presence in the art world. Morisot is best known for his outdoor portraits, landscapes and paintings of family life. Paying special attention to female figures, Morisot became famous especially with his mother and child paintings. She did not have the opportunity to present her work in official exhibitions like her male counterparts, and therefore her work was less visible. However, she did not give up on her art and productions even though she was left in the background due to a sexist approach. Organizing exhibitions with the leading impressionists of his time, Morisot held his first official exhibition at the Paris Salon in 1864. In addition, Morisot's paintings were included in the first Impressionist Exhibition held in 1874. Scenes of daily life and the innocence of childhood are the themes that Morisot emphasizes in his paintings. Morisot also painted dolls, often to depict mother and child scenes in his paintings. She has reflected in her art by portraying her daughter in her most natural state with her doll, especially in the paintings in which she modeled her own daughter Julie. The dolls in Berthe Morisot's paintings have various meanings such as traditional female roles, mother and child themes, birth and imagination. In addition, dolls symbolize women's being mothers and the duties they take from their motherhood roles. In addition, the dolls in his paintings are archival, suggesting that women were related to traditional female roles such as childcare and housework at that time. For this reason, it is aimed to conduct research on Morisot's paintings of his little girl and dolls.
