ABSTRACT


Tile art, which has a special importance in our traditional arts, has been applied in two ways in the past. The first one was used to cover the walls in panels in architectural adornments, and the second was used to decorate portable everyday items in various forms such as vases, oil lamps and jug plates. With their rich designs and compositions, these works have always been an inspiration for today's tile practitioners. On the other hand, jewellery has always been used as an indicator of status and sometimes as an ornament in women's lives since ancient times. Although ivory, bone, natural stones and various mines have been found in the past, no examples have been found showing that tile art has been applied to jewellery. Today, tile art is mostly; It has been tried on jewellery such as necklaces, earrings, rings, bracelets but so far it has not been discussed in terms of tile, clasp designs. Therefore, hairpins prepared with traditional methods for daily use have been identified as the subject of research. Hairpins prepared for gift and functional purposes are made of tile paste and various applications have been obtained. Fifty hairpins application stage are shown in our study. Tile hairpins that are made to be a part of our daily life are small, colourful and personalized objects designed to set an example for new applications that can be used in jewellery designs. In conclusion in this study, it is aimed to gain new designs and application areas to Turkish tile art with hairpins made of tile paste.
