ABSTRACT

Interdisciplinary approach and multidisciplinary approach are two basic approach models that seem similar to each other but have some fundamental differences. Interdisciplinary approach is the contribution of various disciplines on a common subject (Garkovich, 1982). The Multidisiplinary approach, on the other hand, is the situation where individuals do their own work on a common issue, but without needing to be concerned with what each other does (Petrie, 1976). As for art; Although it is a free and original creation field, it has a wide range that includes the opportunity to collaborate with many different disciplines and include various sub-genres. In this direction, the object of art represents a rich entity that includes many different fields, especially philosophy, psychology, sociology, in its background. With this representation, it is possible to see that the art object can be a source of inspiration and motivation for many scientific and artistic discoveries in history. When considered in this context, it should be taken into consideration that art cooperates with many disciplines within and outside of it. The famous French philosopher Voltaire, with a statement that supports this argument, emphasizes that all art branches are brothers and art branches progress under each other's light, in other words, art is an interdisciplinary subject. Likewise, writer Ferit Edgü also states that arts are buddies. From phonetic arts to performing arts; Interdisciplinarity can be spoken of in all types of art, from traditional arts to plastic arts and contemporary art practices that allow the use of many arts and science disciplines together. This study is a descriptive study aiming to reveal how the art object has a place in the interdisciplinary approach and multidisciplinary approach and other platforms related to life. To achieve this aim, the literature survey method was used. The information obtained through theoretical studies about the interdisciplinary approach and the multidisciplinary approach was discussed in relation to the "object of art". It has been concluded that the art object is an ontologically important sign of existence that can occur both in an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary structure. In the light of this information, suggestions that can be the subject of new research have been developed.
