ABSTRACT
The relationship of human with stone dates back millions of years. Functional instruments made of stone, while meeting the basic needs of people, the artistic objects that the aesthetic element has entered into have become influential in the human spirit. The artifacts in which stone is used as raw material include mosaic art besides various jewelery, sculptures and reliefs.
Natural stone mosaic art, which has a long history in human history, continues its appeal today. In the millenniums, the motifs of the developments in the events and cultures of the societies have undergone changes and the aesthetic value of this art has been enriched and reached to the present day.
A mosaic club was established in Ahi Evran University Kaman Vocational School in order to keep the mosaic art that has been developed and shaped in various forms and styles in Anatolia for thousands of years, not to be forgotten today and to be transferred to future generations and various applications were made. The students who come from different regions of Anatolia in the mosaic club will learn and apply this art with all their techniques and they will provide important contributions at the point of spreading the natural stone mosaic art of Anatolia which is a cultural mosaic and transfer it to the future.
With this work, it was targeted that both giving the emerging, historical development and manufacturing techniques of the mosaic art used in the past in the churches, in the inns, in the baths, etc. in the fields having important place in human life and teaching the students of Kaman Vocational School who are interested in this art and to be earned to natural stone mosaic art the old popular value at present and transferring it to future generations. Another aim of the work is to guide the training of qualified personnel in the restoration of natural stone mosaic artefacts unearthed in the archaeological excavations.
