Sanat tarihinde kadın imgeleri, toplumsal normlar, ekonomik yapılar ve inanç sistemlerindeki dönüşümler doğrultusunda sürekli yeniden inşa edilmiştir. Bu bağlamda, Eski Ahit anlatılarından Yudit ve Salome figürleri, kadına dair ikili temsillerin simgesel örnekleri olarak öne çıkar. Yudit, yüceltilen kahraman kadın modelini temsil ederken; Salome, ahlaki yozlaşmanın ve tehlikenin cisimleşmiş hâlidir. Her iki figürün sanat yapıtlarında ele alınış biçimi, kadına yönelik ataerkil bakışın ve ideolojik kodların görsel düzlemde nasıl üretildiğini gösterir. Mitolojik ve ikonografik anlatıların toplumsal cinsiyet eşitliği perspektifiyle yeniden değerlendirilmesi, mevcut yapının sorgulanması ve dönüştürülmesi açısından önem taşımaktadır. Bu çalışmada, söz konusu ikonografik temsillerin tarihsel bağlamda çözümlenmesiyle, sanatın toplumsal cinsiyet rollerinin inşasındaki rolü tartışılmaktadır.

Throughout art history, representations of women have been continuously reconstructed in line with shifting social norms, economic structures, and belief systems. In this context, the Old Testament figures Judith and Salome emerge as symbolic examples of dual representations of femininity. While Judith embodies the idealized, heroic female figure, Salome represents moral corruption and danger. The ways in which these figures are portrayed in artworks reveal how patriarchal perspectives and ideological codes are visually constructed. Re-evaluating mythological and iconographic narratives through the lens of gender equality is crucial for questioning and transforming existing structures. This study analyzes the historical context of these iconographic representations and discusses the role of art in shaping gender roles.
