İslam sanatında figüratif unsurların sınırlı olması, soyut ve geometrik formların bir anlatım aracı olarak öne çıkmasına olanak vermiştir. Bu estetik yaklaşım, farklı kültürel geçmişe sahip sanatçılar tarafından da çağdaş sanat içinde yeniden yorumlanmaktadır. Eliza Au, İslam sanatının soyut ve geometrik yapısına duyduğu ilgi doğrultusunda, bu desenleri seramik çalışmalarında özgün bir biçimde kullanmaktadır. Bu çalışma, sanatçının İslami geometrik desenlere nasıl bir anlam ve işlev yüklediğini, bu desenleri biçimsel, teknik açılardan nasıl oluşturduğunu incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Nitel araştırma yöntemine dayanan çalışmada, İslam sanatı ve sanatçı ile ilgili literatür taranmış, sanatçının seçili eserleri üzerinden biçimsel analiz yapılmış, kullanılan üretim teknikleri ve desenler doğrultusunda değerlendirmelerde bulunulmuştur. Bulgular, Eliza Au’nun geleneksel süsleme anlayışını biçimsel ve mekânsal düzeyde çağdaş bir yaklaşımla ele aldığını göstermektedir. Bu yaklaşım, sanatçının biçimsel tekrarın ötesine geçen, mekânla ilişki kuran özgün bir üretim dili geliştirdiğini göstermektedir. Araştırma sonucunda, Eliza Au’nun geleneksel motifleri dijital üretimle buluşturan yaklaşımı üzerinden, biçimsel ve kavramsal özellikler ortaya konmuş; bu yaklaşımın çağdaş seramik sanatına sağladığı katkılar değerlendirilmiştir.

The limitation of figurative elements in Islamic art has allowed abstract and geometric forms to come to the fore as a means of expression. This aesthetic approach is reinterpreted in contemporary art by artists from different cultural backgrounds. In line with her interest in the abstract and geometric structure of Islamic art, Eliza Au uses these patterns in her ceramic works in a unique way. This study aims to examine how the artist attributes meaning and function to Islamic geometric patterns and how she creates these patterns in terms of form and technique. Based on qualitative research methodology, the study reviewed the literature on Islamic art and the artist, conducted a formal analysis on selected works of the artist, and made evaluations in line with the production techniques and patterns used. The findings show that Eliza Au takes a contemporary approach to traditional ornamentation at the formal and spatial level. This approach shows that the artist has developed a unique production language that goes beyond formal repetition and establishes a relationship with space. As a result of the research, the formal and conceptual characteristics of Eliza Au's approach, which combines traditional motifs with digital production, are revealed and the contributions of this approach to contemporary ceramic art are evaluated.
